Bama

So as I have talked about before, my girlfriend goes to school at Samford in Birmingham, Alabama. Although she has been home a couple of times I really miss her and would take any opportunity to see her. So this weekend I am going to drive to there and see her. She and I both have a week where we do not have a lot of things that we need to be doing so I am going to drive down Thursday after class and stay the weekend with her. I am so excited to be able to go down there and see her and stay the weekend at her school and meet her friends and see everything. It has been really hard for me to understand a lot of things that she is talking about at her school so being able to see these things and to meet her friends will be really nice. I really think that she is more excited than I am to come down there. It seems like it really means a lot to her that i would make an effort to come down there and see her. Seeing her happy makes me really happy too so it is a win-win situation for both of us and I cant wait to go down there and see her. Hopefully it will be a really good weekend and i can convince her to come back this way next year.

Offseason

Things are still going really great being able to just chill and hang out with me time off. After we had our last tournament I brought my clubs into the dorm and hid them away under the bed. Ever since then I havent pulled them out once and dont plan on it for another couple of weeks. As much as I love the game of golf rand dont know what I would do without it. It has been heaven not having to go to practice every day and play reguardless of whether I want to or not. So now I am just able to go to the dorm in the afternoon and take a nap if I want and just go to the gym and hang out more with my friends. With Thanksgiving fast approaching and then Christmas soon after that I probably wont touch a club for another month. Sadly that doesnt bother me at all. I am still loving the just chill schedule and taking a really big break. So i think about new years I will probably dust off the sticks and get back out to the course. That could be scary with the combination of weightlifting and no practice but we will see how it goes.

Offseason Gym

So as I previously stated in a former blog, the golf team went into offseason this week finally. After a fairly decent season we are done untill sometime in the beginning of Feb. This translates to mean GYM. During the season it is very difficult to lift any substantial amount of weight because it really messes with your swing. When you’re having to qualify 3 days a week you cant be sore and out of sync because of lifting weights. So now the the season is past it is time to go crazy in the gym. My buddy andrew and I started in the gym on monday with some crazy new work outs. These things are crazy and soo hard. I could be the most sore I have ever been in my entire life. Every part of my body aches like I have been dropped from a 20 story building. Although I feel like absolute crap I know that it is worth it and next week I will be much better and ready to keep going and building muscule. I love the gym and I am really glad I have some time to take off from golf and just lift.

Fall Golf Season

Well my first season of golf in college is finally finished. Throughout highschool my goal as a golfer was to one day play golf at a Division 1 college. Well I finally made it. It is a really good feeling to know that i achieved my goal that I set. Although our season wasnt very good and we did not play to our abilities,it was still a lot of fun and a great expierience. Throughout the season I feel like I have definalty improved and have gotten a pretty good idea of what it takes to play at the college level. I had no idea the amount of time that golf takes up once you are in college. I guess it is because there is really nothing else better to do than practice but at the same time I was on the course every single day. That is kind of sad but now that the season is over I am not touching a club for at least 3 weeks. Sometimes just playing all of the time really gets to you. I get really burnt out when I am at the dang course 7 days a week seeing and doin the same thing all the time. Even though I whine a little about practicing too much I really had a good season and cant wait to play in the spring.

So for Halloween I decided that I would go with the cop uniform since I already had everything I needed to wear. Well instead of just wearing a plain and simple cop outfit I decided I would spice it up a little bit and make it more of my own. I got the shirt and put on the badge and the whistle which I thought was pretty snazzy. Then I popped my callar and put the tie on but not tight or anything. Thursday i went to walmart and got some aviator sunglasses so I would be looking sharp. When I finally put it all on I was kind of worried thinkin that I would get some mixed reviews, but then after I got to the party I was prooved wrong. Everybody loved the cop outfit, and I think it worked out really well. Some of my friends that I went with were dressing up as female cops so it went really well together and we had a blast. It seemed like everybody at the party wanted a picture with the cop and I was the only one there that looked even the smallest bit lagitament. Overall we had a really great time and I made a good decision on the outfit.

Call The Po Po

So halloween is here and everybody is dressing up to look absolutly rediculous. So why should I be the odd ball and not join in on the fun. This year I wasnt really sure what I should be for Halloween. I havent dressed up for probably 3 years because I guess I thought I was too cool and too old to do that kind of stuff anymore but this years I guess things are just all different because it is definatly the cool thing to do to dress up. Hearing everybody’s ideas for costumes are absolutly hilarious. One of my friends is being a giant hot dog, another is zoo keeper. People are just crazy this year so I had to think of a good costume. After putting a little thought into it I decided that I would just dress up as a police officer. My dad is a cop so I’ve got all of the authentic stuff to wear. So Im thinkin that i will just do my best to make my costume as differetn as posible and well go from there.

Classes

Well its getting closer and closer to christmas and the end of the first semester which makes me very happy because I get a really nice break at home with the girlfriend and then I can come back refreshed for the next semester and finish up my first year here at the GW. The only problem with that is that after I get back from that nice long break, I will be coming back to take on a whole new set of classes. Dont get me wrong I really do like school and dont mind doing the work ever. In highschool I had a really good time but also did really well in accedimics and never really had any worries. Now I feel like there is constantly something on my plate that has to be done really quickly. Sometimes I have weeks when there are 2 or 3 different assignments that I have to complete and they are on no way easy. Although I am often feeling stressed, I like being in college and cant wait to get my degree and get out in the real world and have a career which is such an awsome thought. So i guess that means that the new classes and hard work are definatlty worth it.

Winter is Definatly Coming

So it has become very apparent to me these past few days that winter is without a doubt just around the corner. I have had to try to stay thawed out at practice for the past week. When it gets cold, golfballs dont fly nearly as far when the weather is warm. Im not sure exactly why this is, but in the winter time there is a big difference in how the ball flys. Also, in order to keep warm when its cold out you have to wear a lot more clothes. Duh.. With all kinds of clothes on it gets really hard to swing properly and everything goes wacko. With the horrible compination of being cold wearing a dang escimo suit and the changes in ball fligts winter is without a doubt the worst time of the year for a golfer. The thing that really sucks is that the winter is just getting started and a lot of our tournaments are later on in january when its even colder. Im dreading it soo bad but I guess that means I will just have to go get some more clothes.

The Weekend

So this weekend might have been one of the best weekends ever. I finally got to see my girlfriend Becca because she was home on her fall break. Friday after I went and got her we ate some really good food that her mom fixed for us. The we just hung out for the rest of the night. Saturday morning she went shopping with her mom and i went and practiced for a little while. Then after she came back we went and picked out some pumpkins to carve. She got pretty excited about that. Later we went back to my house and cooked dinner for ourselves. We made fettichini alfredo which was really good cause she is already a great cook. After that we just layed around for a little while untill the movie at 1045. When we got out of the movie there was absolutly nobody else around so it was kinda neat to be the only ones at the theatre. We decided we wanted to get a donut so we went to krispy kreme. Sunday we went to the Carolina panther football game that was a lot of fun because we had field passes, and the panthers played a great game. Altogether it was a great weekend that I needed alot. I cant wait untill she is around all of the time.

So friday finally rolls around and it is time to go get Becca in greenville. I didnt think that it would ever come. It has been a really long week even with the two dys off at the beginning. Even with the long week I still couldnt catch a break. When becca was leaving alabama there was a huge wreck on the interstate somewhere before atlanta. Then when she finally got through the wreck trafic it was rush hour in Atlanta and anyone that has ever driven a car knows that ATL is not where you want to be on a Friday afternoon at 5. Needless to say she was on the road for almost 8 hours coming from Bama which was driving me crazy. I didnt think she would ever get here but finally about 8 that night I got a call to come get her so I met her in Greenville and had a great night seeing her for the first time in a month and a half.
